| Why change to a new louver? |
| |
We have had problems with louvers from the very beginning. The little
adjustable doors broke easily and could not be repaired. We have replaced
too many to count. Little kids break them --- all kinds of stories. Sometimes, the louver
doors would blow shut when the blower was set on high speed. All the
little vent doors have hinges and attachment bars that cause turbulence and
turbulence makes noise. Also, we found people did not really adjust the louvers
much. We found louvers pointed all over the place except where they should
be. When we designed a blower that could be mounted on the roof, we found
crossing breezes disturbed the air coming out of the blower and made it less
effective. One good thing about the old louver was it looked nice in the
closed position. Obviously, we now use a louver we designed and have
manufactured specifically for BREEZeasy.
A lot of time went into the design and testing. It's simple in design and
appearance. You can change the airflow to the opposite direction by
rotating the louver face half way around. It's not quite as adjustable as the old one
but, it stays open at an optimal point. It
is however, much less fragile -- little kids won't be able to break it.
It's much less likely to get damaged in shipping.
It can't blow shut. The thin vanes reduce turbulence and noise;
and they are always pointed in the right direction. Also, the cleaner air
flow doesn't get broken up by cross breezes so easily. Hopefully, our customers
will find the cleaner airflow and quieter operation of the new louver to their
liking.

| Should I buy a 12-volt or 24-volt unit?
|
| |
The reason we offer 12-volt and 24-volt units is that there are 3 possible electrical connections that apply to golf cars. There are a 36-volt
(six 6-volt batteries), 48-volt (either six 8-volt or four 12-volt batteries), and gas powered golf cars.

| How can I tell if my golf car is a 36-volt or a 48-volt?
|
| |
If you sales receipt isn't handy, just count the number of fluid fill holes in one of your golf car batteries. If there are 3 fill holes it's a 36-volt. If there are 4 fill holes it's a 48-volt.

| I am worried about battery power. How much does it really use?
|
| |
Our tests indicate 11 amps on high (less power than a 150W bulb), 8 amps for medium (the most used speed) and
6 amps on low. You could live 1 mile from a golf course and run a
BREEZeasy constantly on the highest speed during an 18 hole round of golf and you would still have
50% of your available battery power when you got home. We have tested extensively and have not found any problems with the use of power. We estimate an additional 1/2 hour to charge the cart when the
BREEZeasy has been used continuously for 18 holes, 3 - 4 hours. The motor pulls the most power when it is started; try to avoid turning it off and on a lot. Also, a gas powered cart in good working condition should have no noticeable difference in operation with a
BREEZeasy unit installed.
What really effects battery life?
The life of a
lead acid battery is based on
the number of times the battery is charged and discharged. For a golf car that
is, how many times will the batteries go from 100% down to about 30-40% of
charged state? What really shortens battery life is having the batteries
run down to 20%, 10% or zero% state of charge. Most batteries can only fully
discharge about 10 times before they fail completely. So, keep your batteries
well watered (filled once a month) with distilled water and don't let them deep
discharge and they will last well into manufacturer averages.

| What's the hardest part of installation?
|
| |
We've done so many, nothing seems too hard any more. It's not technically
difficult, but the under-dash installation can be a tight spot to work in.
Measuring and drilling the hole for the power cable and lining up the unit
before you attach it to your cart are important tasks in the job. It's a good
idea to have someone help you hold things in place. Go slowly and look over
things before you start. Walk through the process in your head before you start,
like a mental rehearsal. Get some help if you are not comfortable with
electrical wiring. Otherwise, it's really quite simple. If you are a golf club
member ask the head of maintenance for help. Chances are someone there can
install it quickly and for a reasonable fee.

| 6.
| I have a 48-volt cart. Is that a problem?
|
| |
No, not at all. Just be sure to order the 24-volt model which is compatible with a 48-volt golf cart. For installation just follow the
instructions that come with the unit.
|
| 7.
| Will the BREEZeasy work on my Yamaha golf cart?
|
| |
Mounting the unit overhead (roof mount) is the best choice for a Yamaha cart.
Yamaha's have a vertical break in the forward floor board that requires an under
the dash installation to be located off center.
The Yamaha Drive has a large dash cowl trim that can accommodate a
BREEZeasy if
you can tolerate having two of the cup holders partially covered. |
| 8.
| Do I have to connect the unit directly to the battery?
|
| |
Not necessarily. Some carts may already have a 12-volt power takeoff. In that case, the unit could be connected there. Always use the inline fuse that comes with the unit.
|
| 9.
| Can the
BREEZeasy be installed in tractors or boats?
|
| |
Yes, the
BREEZeasy should work on just about any vehicle or boat with a 12 or
24-volt power supply; tractors, bulldozers, ATVs, bass boats, backhoes, horse
trailers and probably a lot of other things we have not thought of yet. Always
place a 5" x 16" piece of cardboard where you plan to install the unit to see if
there is adequate space and clearance (leave at least 2" on each side for air
induction).

| Does the BREEZeasy require any maintenance?
|
| |
Without removing the knob, adding a shot of WD-40 on the switch shaft once a
year is not a bad idea. You should be careful not to get an object into the blower like a golf tee to damage it. You can wipe it down with an automotive plastic protector. Don't wax it, it will turn a fuzzy white.
